I thought it might be nice to jump on the bandwagon a while and talk about net neutrality. I mean seeing as the president is all up on this stuff. He seems to have all of the answers.
I for one dissagree with his simplistic view on the way an economy should work. The reason I bring up this point is because, though a new net neutrality bill would "level the playing field" I would be doing it in a way that would damage the economic engine that ISPs have become. Example, the dow dropping when Obama announced it. Ok, alright, a cheap shot, I get it. However it is true. And not just in the short term will this idea/bill/ideology damage us. It creates utility out of the internet. Like your water, gas, electrictiy bill. Internet would be greatly regulated. Choked if you will, fettered into submition to a state that will stop at nothing to get, and hold whatever power they can.
Ok, that was a long rant. Just what is net netrality, Well, from my understanding it is the idea that more data hungry applications should not be throttled. Now, your probably asking yourself, gee, why would Ryan want us to not have faster internet. That isn't the case, so cool your jets yo! And let me explain, This throttling that was mentioned earlier is a way for ISPs to create the best experience possible for the largest amount of people. If these throttles are removed, there will be less room for other data to flow. Example: your neighbor, has the best bundle around, downloads movies while watching netflix, right next to his 17 year old kid that plays the new COD game non stop. All of these applications take a lot of bandwidth. Which leaves you, (the neighbor) very unhappy that even the simplest of webpages wont load because of the unthrottled nature of your neighbors internet usage. In fact, the structure that our internet is based on is not very strong. Multiplying the unthrottling of high draw applications on a large scale would create more traffic problems rather than correct them. Obama, before you come up with a bonehead move, on a subject you know little to nothing about please just shut up.
